The external laryngeal nerve (ELN) is a slender branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (SLN) which primarily innervates the cricothyroid and inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscles. However the exact nature of fibers which are contained in this nerve has not been ascertained yet.
