The present study was undertaken to evaluate the standardization of protocols towards callus induction and subsequent organogenesis in Gardenia resinifera. The best callus induction was found in half cut seeds cultured on MS medium fortified with 2, 4-D (2mg/l) concentration produced white friable callus with shoot buds. Combination of 2, 4-D (2mg/l) + BAP(0.1mg/l) produced white callus which gave the most effective for callus induction. Callus from internode responded maximum percentage of callus response (60%) was observed in the MS medium containing NAA (0.1mg/l) + BAP (0.5mg/l) with minute shoot buds. Half cut seed produced 80% of response in giving white calli and single shoot bud in the MS medium containing NAA(0.1mg/l) + BAP(0.1 mg/l).
