Hexacoordinated complexes of the general formula [M(DMPT)2 X2], where M is Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) and Copper(II), DMPT is 2,6-dimethyl-4-pyrone thiosemicarbazone (neutral bidentate Schiff base); X is Cl−, Br−, I−, NO3−, ClO4− have been synthesized. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, spectral analysis (IR, electronic). An Octahedral geometry has been assigned to all these complexes. The ligand and complexes have been screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
DMPT/Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II)/Antifungal activity
