A warm standby system with one on-line component and 4 spares in standby state is presented in this paper. The components are connected with sensor and switch. Whenever the online component breaks down, the switch is able to detect the failure using the sensor and replace the defective components with a working spare so that the system keeps on operating without time delay. The switch and sensor have direct impact on normal operations of the system. The components, the switch and sensor failure rates are constant and different. The reliability of the system and meantime to failure (MTTF) is obtained using success mode analysis and transforms techniques. Numerical illustrations are provided for particular values of the parameters concerned.
