This paper deals with a k-out of–n system with sensing device. The life times and repair times of the components follow exponential distribution. The transient and steady state probability equations of the system are obtained. The system availability and mean time to system failure in general are obtained using Markovian approach. As a special case the mean time to failure of 1-out of-2 system has been derived. Numerical illustrations are provided by giving particular values of the parameters.
