Abstract

Drug development is a multi tasked and disciplinary effort. Drug designing through proper evolutionary mechanism is one of the crucial phases in the protocols of drug development. The evolutionary phenomena of drug effectiveness through conventional deterministic models may have the limitation of subjectivity. Effectiveness of a drug on a disease is influenced by many factors and with various levels of impact. It is always appropriate to model the phenomena through probabilistic models as the stochastic nature of patient's profiles, Environmental influences, combinatorial impact of other drugs, varying physiological conditions in the same patient at different time periods, etc. In this paper we develop a stochastic modeling approach in evaluating the drug efficiency. Probability distributions for positive and negative drug impact are developed by considering appropriate postulates. These modes are useful in assessing the drug effectiveness particularly in chemotherapy related problems where the drug administration is in long spells. Formulae for statistical measures of location, scaling, shaping and consistency were derived. The Sensitivity analysis was also carried out and model behavior is observed. This work is useful for health care industry for optimal decision making in the fields of drug administration, assessing the health status of patient etc.
