Abstract

This paper deals with the estimation of population mean using auxiliary information in which an improved general class of product type estimators has been proposed for estimating population mean. The experssion for its bias and mean squared error has been derived upto O(n−2). A comparison has been made with the conventional product type estimators of Robson (1957), Singh (1989), Dubey (1993), Sharma et.al. (2007) and Sharma and Bhatnagar (2008). An improvement has been shown over above estimators in the sense of having lesser mean squared error (MSE).
