Abstract

The present paper examines the comparison between the two models for a 2-out-of-3 Ash Water Pump system. One of the models considers the possibility of failed state whereas the other considers no failed state. On the failure of a unit, inspection is carried out by the ordinary repairman to detect the type of the failure and is repaired or replaced accordingly. The expressions for various measures of the system effectiveness are obtained using semi-Markov process and regenerative point technique. Real data on various rates and costs collected from National Fertilizer Limited (NFL) Panipat, Haryana(INDIA) has been used for the analysis.
