Several Attributes Linked with Child Marriage of Females’ in Bangladesh

Abstract

This study paying attention to investigate the causes and effects of some socioeconomic, cultural and environmental factors on child marriage using BDHS 2004 data. Figure1 represents that in Bangladesh 50 percent girls become bride around their first menstruation as a result they frequently befall health complications due to immature pregnancy. Both χ2 test for independence of attributes and logistic regression analysis explore that all of the selected explanatory variables have statistically significant relation as well as effect with or on child marriage. From the analysis it is evident that females attain less schooling, superstitious on religion, ignorance about innovative culture, inferior standard of living, lack of self-reliance, poor family condition, and marry with alike or lower educated grooms’ are the grounds of child marriage.
