Abstract

Knowledge and information are the two key important factors in stimulating growth and sustainable development of a nation. To determine how effectively nation's workforce is using this knowledge and information, one can look at the key indicators like literacy rate, technology penetration and GDP growth. Higher literacy rates will help in nation building and subsequently results in improvement of all factors of production may it be technology growth, trade and human development. In this paper an attempt has been made to see the dynamic impact of literacy rate on key economic and demographic indicators, the trend analysis of different demographic and economic factors and exploring the cause and effect relationship among the key indicators and literacy rate.
