The physico-chemical properties such as pH, total solids, total dissolve solids, total suspended solids, total hardness (as CaCO3), total alkalinity (as CaCO3), chloride and sulphate of given water samples from different region at district Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh state in northern India was analyzed by Indian standard methods, for determination of potability of water samples. All these properties are important but alkalinity is more important to aquatic organisms because it protects them against rapid changes in pH. Alkalinity is especially important in areas where acid rain is a problem. Overall, the portability of different water sample sources can be arranged sequence wise order with respect to standard quality, which have different quality standard and different grade.
