Abstract

In this article, a compact ultra-wideband low-pass filter employing a modified defected ground structure is proposed. The filter’Cs design is equipped with capacitive coupling for strong impedance matching. The measured 3 -dB bandwidth is recorded to be 8.0 GHz. The simulated insertion loss (IL < 1.0 dB) and attenuation of 45.0 dB at 5.15 GHz are recorded in the passband of the low-pass prototype. The filter creates a notched band for removal of Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11a frequency, thereby avoiding interference. The simulated group delay is recorded as 0.2 ns that correspond to excellent filter linearity. The proposed filter can be used for wireless sensors and tracking applic ations.
