Abstract

Globe has witnessed several pandemics but the severity was either low or saturated to some/limited areas. This is the first time in history when a pandemic has hit so hard and widely, the globe has now become well connected and vulnerable, COVID-19 emergence is one major example for us to become aware and prepared. This review article is an attempt to visualize the epidemic from occurrence, spread and effect point of view; still we are unable to manage the challenges involved in controlling the spread of virus, treating and saving the vulnerable. The epidemic has resulted in huge fatalities and mortalities, and the present outbreak has clearly pinpointed our limitations and knowledge. Paediatric cohort is mostly underestimated for the effects of COVID-19. Children were considered as silent spreaders but the fact still is controversial, due to lack of data and systematic approach there is no clear understanding on how many children got affected, cured and what was the mortality rate. The epidemic has hit the whole of humanity but it is estimated that it will have an adverse effect on the future of the world i.e. children. The present pandemic has challenged our understanding and has shown us where we stand in terms of technology and scientific advancements, therefore there is a strong need to upgrade our knowledge and understanding to be ready for the future.
