In order to study the effect of La substitution on microwave and electrical properties of strontium hexaferrite, a series of samples with composition Sr1-xLax Fe12O19 (x = 0, 0.10, 0.20 and 0.30) were prepared by standard ceramic processing technique. The DC electrical conductivity of doped and undoped samples was measured at different temperatures. DC electrical conductivity results show having conductivity with an increase in temperature. This indicates magnetic semiconductor behavior of the samples. The variation of reflection loss has been studied as a function of frequency (f), La3+ content (x) and thickness of the absorber. A maximum reflection loss of -19.9 dB is obtained for sample with x = 0.0 and absorber thickness of 3 mm and 3.5 mm.
