Abstract

This paper suggests a technical automated approach for fault detection in roller bearing at inner race. Bearing fault detection is a typical problem in rotating machinery. Each time the rolling element passes over the defect and an impulse of vibration is generated. For this we used a mike to record acoustic signals generated by rolling element when it passes over the defect. The acoustic signals generated by the bearings are recorded by placing the mike in front of the rotating bearing. Results show that the technique we have used is very effective not only in fault detection but also for severity of defect. The aim of this research work is the early detection of bearing faults in rotating machinery.
