Abstract

At room temperature abrasive wear behaviour of aluminium-5% copper (wt %) containing different amounts of silicon carbide composite has been investigated using pin on disk wear tester. The composite has been sintered for strong bonding. It was found that wear rate of the aluminium composite increased with the increase of applied normal load and sliding speed. Wear resistance and hardness of the aluminium increased with increase in silicon carbide content.
