Abstract

EN-31 Steel is an attractive material due to its unique high strength that is maintained at the elevated temperature and its exceptional wear resistance. EN-31 Steel possesses high toughness and its strength is usually known to create major challenges during its machining. However, there is no evidence regarding the application of turning process for the machining of a material like EN31 steel in the literature available till now. Hence the aim of the experiment is to investigate the machining characteristics of EN-31 Steel under different process conditions. The machining characteristics investigated are Thrust force (T.F), Radial force(R.F), Surface roughness (S.R), Feed force (F.F) and Material removal rate(M.R.R)
