Abstract

The complexes of the type MLX2 [where M= Ni(II), L= Benzofuran-2-carboxy-phenyl thiosemicarbazide and X= mono nitrophenate (C6H5ONO2)ion] were isolated in solid state and characterised by the elemental analysis, I.R, electronic spectral data and magnetic moment studies. The ligand behaves as bidentate by coordinating through oxygen of carbonyl group and nitrogen of hydrazine moiety. The ligand and metal complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity Thiosemicarbazone and their complexes have shown a great variety of biological activity1–6.
