Abstract

This paper deals with the study of plants moving in the canopy under wind load. We first establish the dynamics of the plant as well as that of the wind. Under the assumption that the amplitude of the load is small, we restrict ourselves to the linear behavior of the plant. Hence, the amplitude of the oscillations of the plant is determined as a function of the different parameters. The domains of stability and instability of the oscillations are then determined as a function of the amplitude of the excitation. When the amplitude of the oscillation belongs to the domain of instability, there is a risk of the plant collapsing.
