Abstract

The paper concerns with the propagation of plane SH-type waves in a transversely isotropic fluid saturated porous layer of finite thickness lying over an inhomogeneous isotropic elastic semi-infinite medium and under laying by an isotropic layer of finite thickness with one of its free surface. The dispersion equation which relates the phase velocity with wave number, anisotropy parameter and inhomogeneity parameter, is derived by using the method for propagation of free waves in layered media. Some special cases are considered. The effect of anisotropy and porous characteristics on the phase velocity has been studied numerically and results are shown by graph.
