Abstract

The present work investigates the machining characteristics of AISI D2 tool steel with graphite as a tool electrode during electrical discharge machining process. The multi wall carbon nano tube mixed with Dielectric solution in EDM process to analysis the surface characteristics like surface roughness. An excellent machined nano fnish can be obtained by setting the machine parameters at optimum level. L9 orthogonal array was used to optimize the machining parameters in Taguchi method. The predicted surface roughness was estimated using S/N ratio and compared with actual values and parameters are optimized. ANOVA analysis is used to finding out the significant factors affecting the machining process to improve the surface characteristics of AISI D2 tool steel material in EDM machining process.
