Detection of Banana bunchy top virus in the aphid vector using double antibody sandwich (DAS) – ELISA

The double antibody sandwhich (DAS) – ELISA detected Banana bunchy top virus in both single and group of II^nd instar nymphs and adults of the banana aphid Pentalonia nigronervosa from infective colony but not in I^st instar nymphs. The virus was not detected in the nymphs and adults from non-infective colony. The virus was persistent in the aphid vector throughout their survival period.
