French bean is an important vegetable and is grown all over the world. The experiment was conducted during the spring season of year 2002 to investigate the effect on phenolic content in French bean infected with BCMV. Phenolic content was observed by using HPLC in healthy and diseased plants. The phenolic acid contents were higher in virus infected plants than healthy samples. The phenolic acid content of healthy and infected plants increased with the age of the plants. The maximum phenolic content were recorded in leaves followed by stem and root.
