Abstract

Six primers were analyzed in order to detect the polymorphism between the B biotype and Indigenous biotype. But the clear and reproducible bands were obtained by reactions with OpB11 primer. RAPD analysis was used to evaluate the genetic variability of certain populations of Bemisia tabaci whitefly collected at various sites in the Southern Karnataka using OpB11 primer. Ten to 100% of individuals per site had identical patterns to those of B biotype individuals from colony maintained since 2001, indicating the spread of B biotype in Karnataka.
