Biochemical changes induced by Bhindi YellowVein Mosaic Virus (BYVMV) infection i leaves of resistant ‘Parbhani Kranti’, susceptible ‘Vaishali Vadhu’ and highly susceptible ‘Pusa Sawani’ bhindi cultivars were studied. Chlorophyll, free amino acid and poly-phenoloxidase enzyme activity were decreased in the infected leaves while sugar, total soluble protein, phenol, chlorophyllase, peroxidase and catalase enzyme activity were increased in infected leaves at all stages of growth. Per cent decrease or increase of biochemical and enzyme activity over healthy were more in the ‘pusa sawani’ as compared to ‘vaishali vadhu’ and ‘parbhani kranti’.
