Abstract

During a routine survey of viral diseases of medicinal plants in Terai region of U.P, a new symptom of viral origin was encountered on Catharanthus roseus during the month of July – August 2005. In the present collection the purple – pink colour flowers were found to be totally converted in green ones. The plant exhibited their normal growth in its initial stages but later on chloresis was set in. During blossoming further, the purple pink colour flowers were reduced in size and became green in colour. The characterization for the current identification is yet to be done.
