Abstract

Horse gram yellow mosaic (HgYMV) disease is a major constraint in cultivation of horsegram in Karnataka, India. Host plant resistance is an effective and environmentally acceptable means of managing this disease. In order to identify the resistant sources for the virus, 486 genotypes of Trichur series were screened under field conditions during summer and early kharif 2005. The resistance of the genotypes was assessed on 0–9 scale. Off the 486 genotypes evaluated, only twenty-three genotypes viz., Tcr-121, Tcr-123, Tcr-782,Tcr-792,Tcr-118,Tcr-617,Tcr-627,Tcr-606,TCR-607,Tcr-650,Tcr-653,Tcr-652,Tcr-758,Tcr-658, Tcr-657, Tcr-659, Tcr-654, Tcr-651, Tcr-643, Tcr-645, Tcr-646, Tcr-618 and Tcr-765, exhibited a moderately resistant reaction under field conditions.
