Abstract

Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and ISO 15189: 2007 standard compliance is required for international accreditation of Virological Laboratory. It is an essential current requirement for international funding. Recognizing this need, Measles Laboratory of NIV Pune, has introduced the equipment Calibration, Validation and Maintenance (CVM) Program since 2007. The equipments are categorized according to the projects, are calibrated by external agency once in a year under the supervision of Equipment Manager. The health card is being maintained for each equipment. Criteria, frequencies of the calibration are set. Certifications of calibrating agency are documented. Automated Temperature Monitoring System (ATMS) is set for all refrigerated equipments. Documentation of each activity under this program is an essential feature. This program has been audited and certified International Quality Audit Personnel. Equipment CVM Program is a must for any Virological Laboratory in the research field. The details of the program are described in this paper.
