Abstract

In the present study, an attempt was made to correlate haematological and biochemical data with pathological changes from bitches affected with cystic endometrial hyperplasia pyometra complex (CEHPC). Total leucocyte (TLC), differential leucocyte count (DLC), total erythrocyte count (TEC) and haemoglobin (Hb) concentration were determined for haematology and as biochemical parameters blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and plasma creatinine were estimated to assess the renal dysfunction. Total plasma protein (TPP) was also determined in the pyometric bitches. Haematology of CEHPC cases showed leucocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphocytopenia and anemia. Biochemically, the increased BUN and hyperproteinemia were observed but the plasma creatinine values were not very much affected. Alterations in the haematological and biochemical parameters were more marked in cases where the cervix was closed.
