The protective effect of Colis-V in induced colibacillosis was studied in broilers. Day old 200 commercial broiler chicks were randomly divided into four equal groups. Group-I chicks were given plain feed (Healthy control) and Group-II chicks (Treatment control) fed with plain feed mixed with Colis-V, a commercial antibiotic (@ 100 mg/kg of feed). Group-III chicks were orally inoculated with E. coli at the age of 8th day (@0.2 to 0.3 ml of brain heart infusion broth, approx. bacterial conc. 1.4×109 cfu/ml) and chicks in group-IV were fed the diet containing Colis-V and orally inoculated with E.coli. The chicks of all the four groups were maintained for 35 days. It was evident that Colis-V had ameliorative effects in colibacillosis in broiler chicks.
