Incidence and pathological conditions in chicken of Kalinga Brown breed in Guwahati, Assam

Abstract

Total of 120 chicken of Kalinga Brown breed were screened for the prevalence of various disease conditions from August, 2007 to December, 2008. The most common bacterial diseases recorded were enteritis (17.50%) followed by oophoritis (16.67%), coli septicaemia (14.17%), salpingitis (8.33%), egg peritonitis (5.83%), omphalitis (5.00%), hepatitis (4.17%), pneumonia (6.67%), impacted oviduct (5.00%), abnormally large right cystic oviduct (4.17%) and egg bound (8.33%). The bacterial agents isolated in all the above cases was Escherichia coli. The helminths (Ascaridiasis) recovered at necropsy was 4.17%.
