Spontaneous case of bile-duct carcinoma in a Syrian Golden hamster

Abstract

A spontaneous case of bile -duct carcinoma was diagnosed in a adult female Syrian Golden hamster. Grossly, multiple, 2–3 cm diameter, circumscribed whitish fod were observed on liver surface. Histopathologically, liver showed, marked biliary hyperplasia. Some of the bile ducts were markedly dilated, cystic and its lumina contained eosinophilic content. The cuboidal epithelium of bile-duct were hyperchromatic and enlarged. Nudeolus was prominent. Collagenous tissue was more in area of connective tissue proliferation. Extensive connective tissue proliferation with mononudear cellular infiltration was also noticed.
