Abstract

Administration of antitubercular drugs (ISN+RIF) for 21 days induced toxicity which resulted in liver damage. Histological changes revealed marked sinusoidal congestion, fatty changes, loss of striations in cardiac muscle bundles, reduction in glomerular space and vacuolations in few glomeruli, degeneration of tubules and extensive haemorrhages in interstitial tubular spaces. Brain revealed con-gestion, haemorrhage and infiltration of mononuclear cells. Amelioration was attempted by incorporating vitamin E (300mg/kg) and Withania somnífera (1000mg/kg) in feed and resulted in improvement in structural loss of various organs.
