Abstract

The present study was done on chickens fed with aqueous cold extract of Ocimum sanctum orally @ 250mg/kg. b.wt. daily. Blood samples were collected for hematological and serobiochemical studies. Hematological studies revealed highly significant increase in the total leucocyte count (lymphocytosis) while Protein profile revealed significant hyperproteinemia and hyperalbuminemia. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant increase in the mean value of skin thickness at 24 and 48 hours of post challenge of DNCB in the medicated birds.
