This report presents a case with a history of persistent hematuria of two weeks duration in a dog. The dog was misdiagnosed and treated wrongly by the owner for schistosomiasis. A small bright red mass was present on the prepuce. Schistomiasis could not be incriminated from the laboratory tests carried out. Hematologic findings revealed mild hyperproteinemia, thrombocytopenia and lymphocytosis. Urinalysis revealed a mild hematuria that is likely due to a bleeding tumour. A cytologic diagnosis of the mass as transmissible venereal tumour (TVT) was made. The tumour accounted for the persistent haematuria.
