Abstract

Investigations were corried out on 7 farms with desi birds and one farm having commercial layer birds to know the cause of the mortality. Clinically, birds showed multiple, black to brown coloured nodular growth on wattle and comb with varied proportion. The mortality ranged from negligible to as high as 1.5%. Layer birds showed production drop of around 20%. Based on gross, histopathological and isolation study, disease was diagnosed as fowl pox.
