Fifty canine cutaneous growths were studied from various breeds of dogs, out of which 41 were diagnosed as cutaneous neoplasms and 9 as inflammatory swellings. Among the 41 neoplasms, 24 (58.54%) were benign and 17 (41.46%) were malignant. On categorization, the epithelial tumours accounted to 39.02%, mesenchymal tumours to 48.79% and melanocytic tumours to 12.9%. The epithelial tumours were 7 cases of papilloma, 2 cases each of ceruminous cystadenocarcinoma and one case each of sebaceous adenoma, hepatoid adenoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, sebaceous adenocarcinoma and apocrine papillary cystadenocarcinoma. Mesenchymal tumours consisted of 3 cases each of histiocytoma, haemangioma, lipoma, transmissible venereal tumour, two cases of fibrosarcoma and each one case of fibromyxoma, fibroma, mast cell tumour, cutaneous plasmocytoma, haemangiosarcoma and cutaneous lymphoma. Melanocytic tumours consisted of four cases of malignant melanoma and one case of cutaneous melanoma.
