A six year old female Rottweiler dog was presented to the District Veterinary Centre with the history of anorexia, progressive distension of abdomen and blood tinzed/blood mixed vaginal discharge. On clinical examination, the animal appeared dull and abdominal palpation revealed a firm mass and tentative diagnosis of pyometra was made. Lateral radiography of abdomen revealed a space occupying mass on the caudal abdomen. Haematology revealed reduced haemoglobin levels while serum biochemistry results showed elevated levels of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, calcium and SGOT. Surgical correction was attempted under general anaesthesia using combination of atropine and xylazine as premedicants and ketamine-diazepam-xylazine +ketamine combination as anaesthetics. Caudal midventral laporotomy was performed and uterus was exteriorized. Body of uterus was firm and round with tumor mass weighing about 5 Kg. Panhysterectomy was performed. Histopahologically it was diagnosed as leiomyoma.
