Abstract

The study was carried out to assess the effect of condensed tannins (CT) through leaf meal mixture (LMM)on gross and histopathological changes in Haemonchus contortus infected sheep. Eighteen sheep were randomly divided into three groups (negative control; NC, infected control; C and treatment; T) of six each in a completely randomized design for a period of 90 days. Twelve H. contortus infected adult sheep were allocated into two equal groups, control and treatment, containing 0 and 1.5 % of CT, respectively. Few changes were noticed in the abomasums of T group as compared to C group on histopathological examination; however the inflammatory reaction consisting of infiltrated eosinophils, mononuclear cells and plasma cells were conspicuously noticeable in the mucosa of infected groups (C and T).
