Abstract

A case of gastric impaction and resultant systemic toxemia in an Indian Rock Python is being reported. Grossly, stomach was found over-distended and impacted with greyish semisolid pasty odourless mass. Microscopically, mucosa and submucosa of stomach were found severely inflamed. Diffuse hepatic necrosis, nephrosis and pulmonary haemorrhages were evident. The cause of death was attributed to systemic toxemia as a result of gastric impaction.
