A two year old cross bred Jersey cow was presented with signs of dyspnoea, pyrexia, lymphadenopathy, icteric mucous membrane with severe tick infestation. Haematology revealed anaemia and monocytosis. Leishman and Giemsa stained peripheral blood smear revealed intracytoplasmic Anaplasma bovis in the monocytes. Organisms appeared as heterogenous granular bodies to homogenous compact morulae with varying colour intensity in a single blood smear. Morulae were single or multiple bodies in monocytes. Monocytes also contained vacuolar inclusion bodies and with pink rim of infective organisms.
