Abstract

In a study carried out on spontaneous lung lesions in slaughtered sheep, suppurative bronchopneumonia was observed in 98 (52.41%) cases out of 187 lung samples examined by gross and histopathological examination. Of these, 64 (34.22%) were of acute suppurative bronchopneumonia and 34 (18.18%) were of chronic suppurative bronchopneumonia. The gross and histopathological findings were described. Further, bacteriological examination was carried out in possible cases and Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from the suppurative bronchopneumonia cases.
