In the present case study, a spontaneous subcutaneous mass was observed in the shoulder region of a New Zealand White rabbit kept under standard animal house condition. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) revealed few inflammatory cells with predominant RBCs. However, tissue impression smear showed hyperplastic ovoid fibroblasts in addition to few RBCs. In order to verify whether it is benign or malignant, [18F]-FLT PET/CT scan was performed which showed no accumulation of [18F]-FLT in the region of interest indicating its benign nature. This observation was verified with histopathology which showed hyperplastic proliferating satellite-shaped cells indicative of fibroma. PET-CT imaging diagnosis was very well correlated with routine histopathological and cytological analysis.
