Abstract

An 8 year old indigenous cow was presented with the history of swelling at the left lower mid cervical region. Aspiration of the swollen mass revealed thick, gelatinous, yellowish, honey like fluid. Direct smears prepared by the aspirated material were stained with Giemsa and Wright's stains. Cytological examination of the smear revealed dark blue staining mucoid material. The mucoid material had folding at the periphery and appeared like plastic sheath wrap. In addition, small number of histiocytes lying singly with foamy cytoplasm and abundant red blood cells were also observed. The case was diagnosed as Ganglion cyst based on anamnesis, ultrasound examination, and cytological findings.
