Abstract

The present study reported a case of cervico-facial actinomycosis in a 3 years old crossbred jersey cow. Postmortem examination revealed solid ulcerated overgrowth at the intermandibular region. The growth had blocked the oral cavity which led to difficulty in prehension of feed by the animal. Grossly, 18–20 cm solid dark colored bony outgrowth with creamish cut surface was seen. Microscopically, multiple granulomatous lesions characterized by Splendore-Hoeppli reaction with dense neutrophilic infiltration were observed, suggestive of a case of actinomycosis (lumpy jaw).
