Abstract

Dermoid cysts are non-neoplastic growth of skin with normal cutaneous structure in abnormal locations. Six month old calf was presented and had pale, elevated, smooth, spherical, firm mass in the upper palpebral conjunctiva of the left eye. Mass was removed surgically and subjected for histopathology. Microscopically, the mass was characterised by multiple piloadnexal units, embedded in a fibrous connective tissue. The cyst was covered by a stratified squamous epidermis. The dermis consisted of skin appendage such as hair, hair follicle, sebaceous glands, lachrymal glands and sweat glands. Based on the histopatholocial findings the case was diagnosed as ocular dermoid in a Jersey cross bred calf.
