Abstract

A 12 month old male Swiss albino mouse reared in the Laboratory Animal Housing Facility, Regional Ayurveda Institute for Drug Development, Gwalior, India, was found to have a growth on the right flank region. The animal was euthanized and necropsied. Post-mortem examination revealed well demarcated subcutaneous mass with whitish cut surface which was subjected to histomorphological examination and various immunohistochemistry markers. The lesion was diagnosed as pleomorphic fibrosarcoma based on the histomorphology and immunohistochemistry findings. Present case describes one of the few reports of the immunohistochemical and histomorphological characters of the uncommon tumour in the Swiss albino strain of the mice.
