<bold>Dr Nimai Chand Patra (45)</bold> MVSc, PhD (Vety. Pathology) and Diplomat, (ICVP) was Associate Professor at Department of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, West Bengal. He was born on 7th October, 1977 at Purba Medinipur Dist., West Bengal. He obtained his BVSc & AH (1st Class), MVSc (Vety. Pathology (1st Class) and PhD (Vety. Pathology) degrees in 2000, 2002 and 2010, respectively from WBUAFS, Kolkata, West Bengal. He cleared diplomat ICVP examination in 2019. Dr Patra started his career as Veterinary Officer at ARDD, Govt. of West Bengal during 2005-2007 and served as Lecturer, Assistant and Associate Professor at Department of Pathology, WBUAFS, Kolkata, West Bengal from 2007-2022. For a short spell of time he also served as Head, Department of Veterinary Pathology, WBUAFS, Kolkata, West Bengal. He was Chairman, Committee for Creation of Wild Life Department (2012-2013) and acted as Expert Member, WBSSC. He received a number of awards and recognitions <italic>viz.</italic> ICAR-NET (2004), ICAR-NET (2006), Associate Member, Indian Academy of Cytologists and Member, Executive Committee, Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists.<fig><graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="ijvp-46-2-020-p001.jpg" /></fig>Dr Patra had interest in gross and histopathology, clinical pathology, histochemistry, cytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. He attended 5 International and 7 National Conferences. He was Co-PI of ICAR Outreach Programme on Fungal Zoonosis (Dermatophytosis and Cryptococcosis) from 2010-2022. He authored 24 research papers, 3 popular articles and book entitled “Aquatic animal diseases, healthcare and management” published by NPH, Delhi. He was life member of a number of scientific societies <italic>viz.</italic>, Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists, Indian Veterinary Association, Association of Public Health Veterinarian, The Indian Science Congress Association, West Bengal Veterinary Council, Association of Aqua Culturists, Indian Virological Society, Indian Public Health Association, Laboratory Animal Scientists Association and Dr C.M. Singh Endowment Trust, Bareilly, UP. Recently, he organized 21 days Advanced National Training Course on “Recent Advances in Veterinary Pathology for Intensive Livestock Development” through online mode w.e.f. November 10th to 30th, 2021 jointly by WBUA&FS, Kolkata, West Bengal and National Agriculture Development Cooperative Ltd., Baramulla, UT of J&K. He suddenly passed away on 18th May, 2022, while was on pilgrimage to Badrinath, Uttarakhand. Sudden shocking demise of young Dr N.C. Patra was a great loss to family, relatives, friends, veterinary fraternity, IAVP and ICVP. His near and dears paid rich tributes to him on various social media and in person. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to his grieved family members to bear this great loss. <bold>IAVP conveys deep condolences to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable untimely loss and prays almighty God for eternal peace to the departed soul.</bold> He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.<bold>NB:</bold> Prepared by Dr R.
