Abstract

Clinico-haemato-biochemical studies were carried out on fourteen cross-bred cattle affected with lantana toxicity. There was not much changes in haematology of lantana fed animals. Biochemical alterations included increased level of bilirubin, blood urea nitrogen, creatine and increased activities of AST and ALT. The mild clinical cases of lantana toxicity may be treated by oral administration of activated charcoal and magnesium sulphate, parenteral administration of dextrose saline (5%), liver extract with B-complex, antihistaminic and calcium borogluconate along with transplantation of fresh rumen liquor.
