The application of LipL32 and LipL41 recombinant antigens based Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was compared with Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) using 200 canine serum samples for serodiagnosis of leptospirosis. Using an antigen concentration of 10 ug of each antigen i.e. LipL32 and LipL41, total samples detected positive to Leptospira agglutininins were 33.0% and 300%, respectively as against MAT (26.2.%). The sensitivity of both EISA's was calculated to 100% as compared to MAT, however, the specificity was lwer ut within the acceptable limit. It is included that recombinant protein based ELISA could be a suitable alternative tst to MAT for the detection of leptospirosis in dogs.
